Snoopy and Kaela Kimura are Hot

The thing that makes this commercial for me is seeing Sally from the Peanuts gang scratching records — and of course having Snoopy, Marcy, Peppermint Patty and Lucy back up J-pop star Kaela Kimur (木村カエラ) singing her Hot Pepper song pushes this advert to the next level. And so what is Hot Pepper? It seems to be some sort of food website which is sponsored by Recruit which is a job placement service.

Nick Kent comments: In Japan Snoopy with his sidekick woodstock are the only stars. No one likes Charlie Brown in Japan and you can see they put together an all girls band. Kaela, who’s half British by the way, became well known from Saku Saku, a kids puppet show that made her initially famous, though I think she was a model and recording music before then. My theory was that since she put up with a lot of puppet shenanigans that made her perfect girlfriend material. There was a substantial grown up audience which I think threw everyone for a curve.
