D&D Has Me Sold On NBC’s Community

 Community D&D episode

I’ve been a big fan of NBC’s primetime programming — at least, what’s left of it — for awhile now, but Community hasn’t exactly been on my list of must-see programming. Perhaps it was last season’s slow start or the fact that I adore 30 Rock so much that I hold everything to that standard. To be honest, I probably shouldn’t. There’s probably plenty of reasons the network has been trailing, and until last week I felt Community might be one of them. Boy, was I wrong.

Last week’s episode had the study group playing a loose game of 2nd edition Dungeons & Dragons. It’s filled with so many references, from failing dice rolls and having a character die instantly, to having to seduce an over-zealous dungeon master in order to obtain a magical pegasus — okay, maybe not everyone has had to experience that last bit. Still, you could really tell they had a field day with the script. If you missed the episode, you can view it on Hulu in the US. It should be available until sometime in early March. Otherwise, you might have to scour YouTube for clips.
