Finally, a reason to dust off Sony’s latest handheld. If you bought a PlayStation Vita at launch, but have already exhausted the system’s limited selection of titles, then you’ll be pleased to hear that PlayStation (PSOne) titles will finally be supported when Sony launches its 1.80 firmware on August 28th.
The news comes amidst a recent concession by Sony Worldwide’s Shuhei Yoshida, who stated that the company has been struggling to secure third party support. While this new functionality won’t do much to bolster the development of new titles, or increase sales of the system itself, it might give early adopters a reason to keep the handheld around. At least, for as long as it’ll take for Sony to develop some more first-party titles.
