Final Fantasy VIII

Sony has taken its sweet time adding PS1 games to the PlayStation Vita digital store. In fact, there were no updates last week at all. Though technically every PS1 game on the PlayStation Network should be able to be played on PlayStation Vita, in practice some don’t work, and large amounts are still not listed on the Vita’s version of PSN. But this week, Sony is showing a lot of love to fans of old PS1 games. Click through for the long list!

Now you can buy games from hit franchises like Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, Mega Man, Parasite Eve, and more. There’s still a way to go for them to cover the rest of their PS1 library, but this is a great batch of additions. Personally, I prefer playing PS1 games on a TV, but I can definitely see the appeal of taking them with you on the go. My girlfriend picked up FFVII and has been playing it all the time. Now if only Sony could bump up the number of original Vita games.
