300’s King Leonidas Is In God Of War: Ascension

300

After ending the trilogy in God of War 3, anything else seems a little…unnecessary. I’m thinking specifically of the upcoming God of War: Ascension, yet another prequel, but this time with multiplayer. Still, in the absence of necessity, just toss whatever in and hope it creates necessity. Case in point: adding King Leonidas from 300 to multiplayer.

Yes, you can play as the King of Spartans, provided you preorder the game at GameStop. The trailer below shows him in action, and yes, he kicks someone down a pit. Of course, if you’re going to do a thematically-appropriate-yet-still-strange crossover like this, you’d expect the character to actually say “This. Is. Sparta!” You also get a nifty double-sided poster, which doesn’t really make up for it.

If you still feel like preordering elsewhere, you will only receive the Mythological Heroes Pack instead, which has Perseus, Orion, Odysseus, and Achilles. So you only get a character from a movie that was popular what feels like forever ago in internet-time by ordering from a store PLUS many more heroes, or you can settle for just the heroes. I wouldn’t sweat it too much, but this is just too “WTF” not to share.
