‘Infinite Crisis’ MOBA Game Coming From Turbine

Infinite Crisis

DC has a new MOBA game coming out. Does “MOBA” sound weird? It means “multiplayer online battle arena,” which is the relatively recent name given to what was previously called DotA-clones, after the original Defense of the Ancients scenario in WarCraft III. (I still think they both sound weird.) Regardless, this MOBA is based not just on DC’s stable of superheroes and supervillains, but the reality-altering Infinite Crisis storyline.

Turbine is making this game, having previously made such online games like Asheron’s Call, Dungeons & Dragons Online, and The Lord of the Rings Online. Yep, this looks a lot like the usual MOBA style, but with Batman and Nightmare Batman. DC’s main characters would be more than enough to inspire tons of playable characters, but the options across multiple dimensions is truly staggering. I have a feeling though that it will devolve into tons of variations on Batman and company, plus non-Batman friends.

I am willing to bet on one thing though: if Superboy-Prime is in the game, I wouldn’t expect to have access to his ability to punch reality and screw up your opponents. Wait, on second thought, that would be really awesome.
