Could Lucasfilm Make A Star Wars TV Series On ABC?

Star Wars TV

People have been waiting on a live-action Star Wars TV series for years. (Anyone remember this old Penny Arcade comic joking about what it would be like?) Supposedly, George Lucas wanted to hold off on making it until visual effects technology had improved even further. But now that Disney owns Lucasfilm and Lucas is out of the picture, it seems like the main obstacle is out of the way. Disney also owns ABC, which has reached out to Lucasfilm to discuss making a Star Wars TV series of some sort.

Executives are saying they’re only beginning conversations and no plans have been made yet. But at least it’s a start! It’s a good sign that ABC is approaching Lucasfilm about this project, not the other way around. A Star Wars TV series would also follow the path of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the Marvel Cinematic Universe spin-off premiering this fall that only materialized once Disney bought Marvel. It’s certainly not unreasonable for Star Wars to do the same.
