Angry Birds Transformers Trailer Nails That ’80s VHS Feel

Never thought I’d be saying this about Angry Birds Transformers, but this trailer is pretty neat. Spoofing off of the original Transformers cartoon, it features the various birds duking it out all in VHS glory. The audio distortion, the fade-in frames, poor tracking, and fuzzy visuals drag me back to watching classic cartoons on tape as a child. Plus, the theme song says “birds disguised as robots in disguise,” so that’s pretty funny. I wonder if the actual game will be any good? Hopefully! Check out the video below. Read more…

Angry Birds Transformers Announced

I don’t know if there’s anything I can add to that headline. It’s Angry Birds mixed with Transformers, and it’s a game/app coming very soon. Comic-con features a lot of new stuff, but some of the news is a little weirder and oddball than your typical movie announcement. What else can Angry Birds cross over with next? Harry Potter? Doctor Who? Star Trek? Minecraft? All of those sound like licenses to print absurd amounts of money. I imagine they’ll all have very punny names like Optimus Prawk and… Laserbeak. Wait. Hang on a second! Read more…

Have you ever wanted to see the Mos Eisley Cantina scene re-enacted with the various feathered characters from Angry Birds? No? Why are you backing away nervously? Are you sure you don’t want to see? It’s not that bad, I promise! Well, maybe. Angry Birds Star Wars is out on every mobile platform now, basically, so this animated video has been released to promote it. There’s not much to say – it’s an angrier, featherier version of the Cantina. But I wonder who this will sell on the game? Read more…

Angry Birds is everywhere today. Games, toys, even a feature film is in the works. But at least we can say it hasn’t had a Star Wars crossover… until now. Rovio, the makers of the ever-popular bird-flinging iOS game, have begun teasing a new announcement on their official Tumblr and Twitter, telling fans to come to the Times Square Toys R Us on Mobday, October 8th, at 8am EST. Does this mean Star Wars-themed Angry Birds toys? Or perhaps there’s more involved – maybe an add-on to Angry Birds Space that features Wookies? As strange as this collaboration is, we won’t know for sure until Monday. Read more…

Looking for something to add that extra ‘oomph’ to your Angry Birds gameplay on PC? I know, I know, don’t look at me like that. Sure, it’s Angry Birds, but the real story here is ingenuity: Andrew Spitz and Hideaki Matsui worked together to create a fully-functioning electronic slingshot for the popular game. If there was ever a project that needed to be on Kickstarter, this is it. Check out the video detailing the device after the break. Read more…

Angry Birds Goes Analog

Posted by Tim Sheehy on Jan 11, 2011 in Videogames

It was perhaps the most popular iPhone game of 2010. Even I have to admit that I as hooked after finally deciding to give it a chance, and now it looks like Angry Birds will be moving beyond the digital realm in the form of a table-top game. I would have used the term boardgame, but there’s no board — only blocks, pigs, the birds and the sling you use to launch them. So how could that possibly work? Well, for those of you who are having a difficult time imagining it, check out the video above. Read more…
