This Guy Built A Life-Size TF2 Minigun

Posted by Ben Huber on May 4, 2014 in Fandom

minigun

Fans continue to impress us in all sorts of ways. YouTube user Cory Alexander put together a life-size prop of the Heavy’s minigun from Team Fortress 2. Not only is it the spitting image of the in-game gun, it also features sound effects, motors to make the barrel spin, and lights to simulate the bullets. He built it from spare parts as well as several 3D-printed parts for the more unique bits. It’ll also be used as part of a Heavy cosplay set to debut at Phoenix Comicon 2014. Impressive! Watch the full video showing it off below. Read more…

This Awesome Gipsy Danger Costume Wrecks All Others

Posted by Ben Huber on Apr 19, 2014 in Fandom, Hobbies and Collections

GipsyDangerCosplay

Well, go home everyone. You won’t be able to top Nona Neon’s amazing rendition of Gipsy Danger from Pacific Rim. She built her cosplay outfit over the course of six months, using EVA craft foam, recycled household items (like a vegetable strainer!), and an acrylic visor. And it looks amazing! She’s done some fantastic work, and apparently she’s fairly new to the cosplay scene, so it’s doubly impressive. It particularly love the detail on the chainsword, it looks pretty lethal! Check out some more images below, then see her Facebook page to watch what she makes next! Read more…

Amazing Judge Dredd Cosplay is Part Make-up, Part Costume, All Awesome

Posted by Ben Huber on Nov 30, 2013 in Comic Books, Fandom

dredd

What does into making a really good cosplay? A costume you’ve slaved over making? Finding the right tool or piece to bring it altogether? What about some make-up and latex prosthetics? If you’re going to make your lower jaw look like Judge Dredd’s lower jaw… then go all the way, like these guys did. It’s an amazing combination of latex and clever make-up that eerily replicates the distinctive shape of Dredd’s face. Combine that with a pitch-perfect helmet and the rest of the costume, and you’ve got one of the best Judge Dredd costume’s I’ve ever seen. I’ve included a video below of the process behind making it. Amazing Spider-Man Costume and Cosplay

Posted by Ben Huber on May 20, 2013 in Comic Books, Fandom

VGj0ICd

Forget the new Spider-Man movie coming out, this is how Spider-Man should really look, right? Well, it’s definitely more impressive since it was made by only one guy, and he detailed the entire process as well! So if you’re a very flexible person, you could fit into this outfit too. MoonSpider does a good job of selling the character with his poses too. Check out a few images below and then take a long journey through the process he went through the make it here, in this photoset. Read more…

Mind-Controlled Cat Ears Street-Dated

Posted by Tim Sheehy on Apr 17, 2012 in Hobbies and Collections, Tech

neurowear vol.1 necomimi

Remember these? Last May we posted a video for Nuerowear’s mind-controlled fashion accessory “necomimi” — or cat ears. That right, they’re a pair of car ears you can control with a thought. Until now, they haven’t been made available for sale. The first batch will go on sale at the Nico Nico Super Conference being held in Chiba later this month for just 7,900 yen — that’s about $100 a pair. Of course, that’s a special price just for the event. They’ll actually retail for about $112 after that. I still can’t imagine anyone wanting to sport a pair of these on a daily basis, but once again, I’m sure they’d make for a fantastic addition to any cat-girl cosplay. Read more…

Everyone’s the Doctor This Halloween

Matt Smith's Doctor Jacket

It’s true. Recently, ThinkGeek updated their catalog with a few Doctor Who cosplay goodies — officially licensed replicas of both Tennant’s overcoat and Smith’s pleated plaid jacket. It wasn’t long before both items sold out completely, and while you can still put an order with them, you can forget about getting it in time for Halloween. Fortunately, there’s still a chance. You can order the items directly from the manufacturer, instead. Abbyshot.com not only carries the Coat and Jacket, but will even throw in a free bow tie for ordering it directly. Read more…
