Straight out of Fanfest 2015, CCP Games has released new gameplay footage of EVE: Valkyrie, their upcoming dogfighting game made for VR. So far, all impressions for this game have been wildly positive, saying it does a great job making you feel like you’re really piloting a small spacecraft. This trailer shows a more story-based setting, which leads me to wonder how linked this game will be with EVE Online proper. So far it appears fairly standalone. I would love to have an effect on the full EVE world if possible! The trailer is below, check it out! Read more…

EVE Online Creators CCP Announce Project Legion

Posted by Ben Huber on May 3, 2014 in Videogames

projectlegion

There’s another new addition to the EVE Online universe coming soon… possibly. CCP has announced Project Legion, a new concept their Shanghai team been working on recently. It’s similar to Dust 514, but this time it’s on PC. It looks like they’re attempting to make something that expands and improves upon what they made before with Dust. There will be safe-zones as well as low-security zones, where friendly fire can happen. And it probably will. And you might just lose all your loot to another player. You never know what can happen in EVE! CCP has said the game is still early and could change depending on community feedback, so we’ll see where it goes from here! Read more…

EVE Online Devs Reveal First-Person Oculus Rift Space Dogfight Game

Now that’s a mouthful! At the EVE Online Fanfast this year, the EVE Online developers showed off their latest creation: a space dogfighting game. The kicker? It’s viewed in first-person via the Oculus Rift, so it feels like you’re actually piloting the ship. This isn’t a full game yet, and the creators aren’t even sure when or if they’ll release it, as it was created as a fun side-project in just 7 weeks. Still, they set it up at the convention and showed it off, so hopefully they have aspirations to get it to the public one day. Penny Arcade Report has a longer write-up of the game, and below the jump is some video. It looks great! I’m just going to continue waiting patiently for my Rift to arrive. Read more…

EVE Online Going Through Massive Online War to Alter Economy

Posted by Ben Huber on Apr 29, 2012 in Videogames

EVE Online has always been fascinating to me, mainly due to the open nature of the digital economy it has. Anyone can do anything they’d do in real life – sell goods, steal goods, attempt to control a resource in high demand – it’s all possible. So for your lazy Sunday, take a look at this: EVE Online is currently going through a massive upheaval as a powerful federation called Goonswarm (a player-created federation, by the way) is killing anyone in the trading hub Jita. This is the final piece in a massive plan by Goonswarm to control alloy prices and become the sole provider right before the EVE expansion, Inferno, is released. And the game’s creators are going to stand by and watch it all happen. Read more…
