Seven Devils of the Seven Kingdoms

Here’s the latest trailer for second season of HBO’s Game of Thrones, and perhaps the most breathtaking yet. The clips they’ve used contain some fresh footage, and are spliced together beautifully. The music is also quite striking, in a haunted sort of way. Then again, if you’ve already read George R.R. Martin’s A Clash of Kings or A Storm of Swords, then you’d find it appropriate given the events that will take place this season.

Spoiler-free Game of Thrones Promo Posters

Game of Thrones Season 2 posters 1

This weekend, HBO released a series of spoiler-free character posters advertising the upcoming season of Game of Thrones. Set to premiere this April, the second season will follow second novel in George R.R. Martin’s award-winning series A Song of Ice & Fire, picking up right where A Game of Thrones left off. Having read the books, I’ve been dying to talk about it, but I’m afraid of spoiling anything for those who haven’t had a chance to pick up the novels. Without spoiling too much, I can assure you this next season should be full of action, suspense and intrigue. They’ll even spend more time north of The Wall. Check out the posters after the break and remember, Game of Thrones season 2 premieres April 1st on HBO. Read more…

First Look at Game of Thrones Season 2

Posted by Tim Sheehy on Nov 21, 2011 in Television

HBO recently released a production trailer for their upcoming second season of Game of Thrones. I believe the new season will cover the events of the second novel in the on-going series of novels A Song of Fire and Ice, entitled A Clash of Kings. The trailer shows off some of the new faces will be seeing throughout the season, as well as the return of several fan favorite who managed to live through last season — there might be a spoiler or two for those who haven’t read the book or seen the show, but nothing that should ruin it for you. If you haven’t seen the first season, it’s currently available for pre-order via Amazon and won’t hit stores until January 10th. If you’d rather just read, or listen to the book itself, both the audiobook and original novel are currently available at your local retailers, or can also be purchased via Amazon or iTunes.

A Game of Thrones Finale Review: OMGWTFCoK!

Posted by Gia Manry on Jun 20, 2011 in Fandom, Television

110620 - GoT

HBO aired the last episode of its adaptation of Game of Thrones, the first book in George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire, last night, and by and large the response is: OMGWTFCoK! CoK, of course, referring to A Clash of Kings— the second book in the series, which HBO will also adapt. And which everyone who watched all of Game of Thrones is now salivating for (even if they already read the novels).

But before we get too excited for the second season, which hasn’t even been slated for broadcast yet, let’s talk about what HBO did right (and wrong) with the series so far. (Spoilers: they did almost everything right.) Read more…

Game of Thrones Already Renewed

Posted by Tim Sheehy on Apr 20, 2011 in Television

Game of Thrones

I knew the premiere of HBO’s Game of Thrones, based on the best-selling fantasy novel by George R.R. Martin, would be a hit, but I’m not sure anyone was expecting HBO to announce plans to renew the series for a second season — at least, not so soon. The first episode aired last weekend opposite the NBA playoffs, yet still managed to snag solid ratings with 2.2 million households tuning in for the debut airing. The re-airings that evening captured an additional 1.2 million viewers on top of that. It’s no surprise that HBO would be pleased with the performance, not to mention all the praise the series has garnered in the press. Still, renewing it after only one episode? That’s a lot of confidence, espeically when most shows end up having to wait on pins and needles for that kind of good news. If the series turns out to be as good as the novel, I’m sure the investment will pay off.
