If you loved the Simpson’s minifigures and their house that was released last year, get ready for some more! LEGO has announced The Simpson’s Kwik-E-Mart, featuring a removable roof, a fully-stocked convenience store, tons of accessories, and Chief Wiggum in his police car. The building also folds out in the back, so you can get easy access to everything inside. 6 minifigures are included too, featuring several iconic Simpson’s characters. But if that’s not enough, LEGO is also releasing a second line of randomly bagged Simpson’s minifigures separately. The Kwik-E-Mart will be out in April for $199.99 USD. Pixel Artists Redo The Simpsons Opening

Posted by Bob Muir on Feb 3, 2015 in Television, Videogames

The Simpsons

By this point, we as a culture have produced approximately 999,999 variations on the iconic opening to The Simpsons. So what’s one more? This one is by Paul Robertson and Ivan Dixon, who recreated the intro with chunky pixels. You may have seen Paul Robertson’s work in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game and Mercenary Kings; if you have, then you’ll be pleased to see things get very weird during the couch gag. Also of note is the chiptune version of the theme song by Jeremy Dower. Check it out, even if you’re not a Simpsons fan, just for the wonderful art! Read more…

Here’s A Trailer For The LEGO Simpsons Episode

Posted by Ben Huber on May 2, 2014 in Television

legosimpsons

The Simpsons LEGO episode is coming up on May 4th, and Hulu has uploaded a new trailer to give fans a peek at “Brick Like Me.” It looks like they’re really going hard on the “alternate universe” angle. The funny thing is, the creators of the episode said they’ve been working on this way before The LEGO Movie and the LEGO Simpsons Figures (with sculpted features rather than the plain yellow heads), so that explains some of the obvious differences. Still, while I’m not much a Simpsons fan, I am a LEGO fan, so this could be entertaining to watch. Check out the video! Read more…

LEGO Simpsons Collectible Minifigures Revealed!

Posted by Ben Huber on Mar 29, 2014 in Hobbies and Collections

simpsons

A lot of fans were drooling over the LEGO Simpsons house, but couldn’t justify the high price tag. I’ve got good news though: if you’re just looking to jump in for cheap, you’ll soon be able to pick up some blind-bagged LEGO Simpsons minifigures! These figures are different from the ones in the house model, and includes other additional figures as well. The full list is: Krusty the Clown, Itchy, Homer Simpson, Grampa, Ralph Wiggum, Chief Wiggum, Scratchy, Nelson Muntz, Marge Simpson, Milhouse, Maggie Simpson, Lisa Simpson, Ned Flanders, Bart Simpson, Mr. Burns, and Apu Nahasapeemapetilon. These will be available in May, and I imagine it’ll be easier to feel out which one is in which bag due to their unique head shapes. Check out the full gallery here. Read more…

The LEGO Movie and The Simpsons Collide

Posted by Ben Huber on Mar 16, 2014 in Fandom, Hobbies and Collections

simpsons

LEGO Simpsons and The LEGO Movie combine in a LEGO video! How much LEGO can the internet possibly fit into one video? I don’t know, but this video is a big contender. Yes, this is a Simpsons couch gag… made from LEGO… also featuring characters from The LEGO Movie. It’s pretty clever, and is a good use of the Simpsons house set, too. I suppose this post is also a good place to mention that there will be a LEGO Simpsons episode in the near future — May 4th to be exact. And yes, the whole episode will be done in LEGO. So that should be pretty entertaining! But until then, this fan rendition will do nicely! Read more…

Watch Sylvian Chomet’s (Triplets of Belleville) Simpsons Couch Gag

Posted by Ben Huber on Mar 7, 2014 in Animation, Television

simpsons

The Simpsons have been getting lot of big-names involved in their couch gags, recently featuring such names as Guillermo Del Toro and more. The latest, airing this Sunday (March 9th), is done by Sylvian Chomet, the director of the fantastic animated films the Triplets of Belleville and The Illusionist. It features his distinctive style applied to all the characters, but the jokes are pretty standard fare. That said, it’s some great animation and contrasts pretty heavily with the cheaper stuff used by the Simpsons now. Check it out! Read more…

Check Out The Simpson’s Tribute to Hayao Miyazaki

Posted by Ben Huber on Jan 11, 2014 in Animation, Anime

simpsons

You know, a lot of people pick on The Simpsons nowadays, but when they put their heads together and do a tribute in reference to something, they really do it well. The latest tribute features Homer getting drunk in Little Tokyo and then everything goes as little crazy, Miyazaki-style. Cat-bus, the moving castle, Kiki, and of course, Spirited Away, are all there. I think I saw a few smaller references as well, so watch the video below and see if you can catch them all. It’s a pretty lengthy sequence to devote to one gag. Read more…

Leaked Image Of Lego Simpsons Set

Posted by Bob Muir on Jan 7, 2014 in Hobbies and Collections

Lego Simpsons

Speaking of Legos, check out this purported leaked image of a Simpsons Lego set. With 2523 pieces, you’ve got a lot to work with as you construct the Simpsons’ house and populate it with the entire family (and Flanders). You can even open it up and check out the interior decorations, from the look of it. As this was a leak on Eurobricks, there’s no word on a date or price, but with that many pieces, you can expect it to easily cost you a pretty penny. Read more…

Guillermo Del Toro Does Simpson’s Treehouse of Horror Opening

Posted by Ben Huber on Oct 5, 2013 in Animation

simpsons

Yup, you read right! Guillermo Del Toro directed the opening couch gag for Simpson’s Treehouse of Horror XXIV. It’s definitely a bit more than just a couch gag, featuring just about every movie monster ever and several references to Del Toro’s own filmography. Yes, there is a Pacific Rim nod. Yes, there is a Pan’s Labyrinth nod. And yes, there is a clever joke about the older, traditional animation of classic Simpsons episodes. It’s kind of awesome how cool the crew at FOX are with making direct fun of the decline of Simpsons. You might remember the Banksy opening also did plenty of that, too. But enough talk! Check out the video below! Read more…

Banksy Takes On The Simpsons; and They Said South Park Seemed Preachy

Posted by Tim Sheehy on Oct 12, 2010 in Animation, Television

The Simpsons, MoneyBart Openning 1

Ever since the latest episode of The Simpsons aired this past Sunday, the Internet has been abuzz about British political activist and graffiti king Banksy’s contribution to the opening sequence — most notably its extended couch-gag. While I’m not able to actually post the couch-gag here, I can link to Fox who currently has the episode in question available for streaming free of charge.

The Simpsons Slurping C.C. Lemon

Posted by Michael Pinto on Nov 17, 2009 in Animation, Japanese TV

I think The Simpsons are even better with Japanese voice acting, they somehow even seem sillier than usual! This advert is for C.C. Lemon a Japanese beverage that’s distributed by Kirin (I admit that I had hoped that it was a beer commercial!).

Burns for Mayor of NYC: An Official Fanboy.com Endorsement

Posted by Michael Pinto on Oct 4, 2009 in Animation, Fandom

Burns for Mayor

While wandering through the streets of Manhattan today I came across this brilliant Simpsons themed poster making fun of the current race for Mayor which features Charles Montgomery “Monty” Burns. Behind this humorous campaign (official website here) is a serious message: That despite how good of a mayor Bloomberg may be, many folks are quite upset (including yours truly) that he eliminated term limits without a public vote. Adding to this irony is also the fact that Bloomberg came in as a result of terms which drove Rudy Giuliani from office right after 9/11. Read more…
