Star Wars: X-Wing And TIE Fighter Get Rereleased

Star Wars: X-Wing

Playing old PC games is much more complicated than old console games. Console games are standardized, so something like Uncharted will play on any PS3, provided you have a PS3. Old PC games, however, require lots of tinkering, often installing fan-created mods to play them on your current system. So it’s great to have a storefront like Good Old Games that sells old games that will work on modern PCs. GOG has just put up Star Wars: X-Wing and Star Wars: TIE Fighter, which haven’t been rereleased in years. Both games are special editions that include slightly better audio and video, as well as their expansions. They’re both available now for only $10 each, so go grab them! Read more…

J.J. Abrams Reveals Shows Off Episode VII X-Wing

X-Wing

The contest to be in Star Wars Episode VII — a fundraiser for the Force for Change charity — is still continuing, with people from around the world sending in a ton of entries. J.J. Abrams is reminding fans to get their entries in, but what’s more important immediately are the teases Abrams has had in his clips: trickles of information to whet your appetite for Star Wars. The latest is an X-Wing from the movie, and it’s looking good. There’s now one big engine on each wing that looks like it splits with the wings, while the design is sleeker. And unlike the prequels, this ship looks worn down and used, like it actually exists in the world. Good news, right? Read more…

LEGO Builds Largest Model Ever: A Life-Size X-Wing

Yes, the biggest LEGO model ever made. LEGO really went all-out here, and put together an absolutely massive, 44 foot wingspan, 11 foot height, 5 million brick model. It took 32 LEGO Master Builders over 17,000 hours to complete. And it’s now in Times Square for everyone to see (and even sit in!). LEGO hasn’t said how long the model will be in Times Square (only that “this summer” it will be moved to LEGOLAND California), but I assume it will at least be there till May 29th for the premier of The Yoda Chronicles. I imagine this is the coolest thing ever for many kids, so I hope this stays around for a while. Check out more images below and also read The Brothers Brick write-up of the effort that went into building it! Read more…

LEGO then promptly requested these images to be taken down… and then uploaded their video announcing the new set. Anyway, regardless of the announcement, this new set looks great, and if you’re a LEGO or Star Wars fan, this will definitely make a great display piece. It’ll arrive in May and will retail for $199.99, with 1,559 pieces. And yes, it includes R2-D2. It wouldn’t be complete without him! Watch the video below to see all the details. Read more…
