Doctor Who Online Spinoff Is All About The Ponds

Pond Life

The seventh season of Doctor Who is right around the corner, on Saturday, September 1. But that’s still more than a whole week away! Should fans really have to wait even longer for more of the Doctor? The BBC doesn’t think so, as they will be releasing five webisodes of a miniseries they’re calling Pond Life.

The miniseries will expand on what happens to Amy and Rory Pond when the Doctor suddenly pops into their lives. Writer Chris Chibnall says that “[travelling] with the Doctor is one of the greatest things you can do, but it’s fun to spend a few moments looking at the chaos he can also bring.” I’d imagine there might be some problems if the Doctor were to show up in the middle of a romantic dinner.

Pond Life will be available on the Doctor Who website and BBC1’s YouTube channel on August 27, with a new webisode offered each day. Then, all five webisodes will be aired on BBC1 on Saturday, September 1, before the new episode of Doctor Who airs at 7:20PM. It’s a good way to ease viewers back into the swing of things and catch up with the Ponds, who are apparently leaving the series in the fifth episode of the season. Then, it’s back to waiting for the next episode at Christmas. Damn the BBC’s schedule!
