Tekken Tag Tournament 2 On Wii U Looks Pretty Silly

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Wii U Edition

Like most console launches, the Wii U is getting a lot of ports to fill out its launch window. A lot of these are pretty much what you’d expect, but Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Wii U Edition is getting some nice exclusive content to differentiate this version. Besides being able to draw on your characters with the GamePad to customize them, there are further customization options to make the Tekken characters look like Nintendo characters. That’s almost weird enough, but the extra content doesn’t end there.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Wii U Edition includes additional silly modes, the highlight of which seems to be Mushroom Battle. Various mushrooms fall down, changing players’ size and the flow of the battle. It looks delightfully chaotic, in a completely unbalanced sort of way. I’m sure hardcore fighting game players will ignore this mode, and likely this port, but I’ve always liked the mayhem caused by joke modes like these. And at least it differentiates this port more than fellow launch-game Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition is doing with its tacked on motion/touch controls.
