Jurassic Park 3D Getting One Week IMAX Run

Jurassic Park

Jurassic Park is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a 3D rerelease in theaters starting April 5. Of course, the movie wasn’t originally shot in 3D, so the film will undergo a conversion process that better be well done, unlike most films converted to 3D after the fact. But if you’re up for watching the landmark film in the biggest way possible, you may want to consider the newly announced one-week engagement in IMAX 3D.

From April 5 to April 12, you can catch Jurassic Park converted to IMAX and 3D, before it’s cut off by screenings of Universal’s sci-fi movie Oblivion. I normally think 3D and IMAX conversions are basically pointless if the film wasn’t initially shot that way, but I have never gotten to see Jurassic Park on a big screen, having been too young when it was initially released. The movie probably would have been released in IMAX 3D if it was made today, so eh, why not? It helps that it’s a great film no matter what!
