Disney Finally Bringing Back Ducktales

One of the best TV cartoons that Disney ever made was Ducktales, the classic, Emmy-winning spin-off of Donald Duck’s comics. From 1987 to 1990 (plus a movie), it chronicled the adventures of Scrooge McDuck (Donald’s uncle); Huey, Dewey, and Louie (Donald’s nephews); Launchpad McQuack (their pilot); and tons of other characters. Disney has finally come to their senses and is reviving this winning series with a new series for Disney XD. They won’t be ready until 2017, but that sounds like good news to me, as taking that much time could hopefully translate into more lavish, traditional animation. Read more…

This Is What DuckTales Looks Like With Real Ducks

14 years after the last episode, and people still like DuckTales. It’s a shame that Disney hasn’t felt like making the entire series available legally for streaming, considering how low any prospective sales are these days, but there are likely many fans who would gladly watch a few ads to revisit the series. Until then, fans continue showing their appreciation for the classic cartoon with various fanworks. But while not every video is gold, YouTube channel Oh My Disney has redone the opening with real, live ducks. Obviously, coordinating real ducks well enough to perform is difficult, so there’s not a lot of motion. But seeing a real duck with a top hat is still adorable! Read more…

Capcom Announces DuckTales Remastered at PAX

PAX is just overflowing with great news, and Capcom has been clearly been busy: their latest announcement is sure to tickle your nostalgia bone. The NES classic Capcom/Disney game will return as DuckTales Remastered, releasing this summer on all three systems’ digital download services (PS3, 360, and Wii U). WayForward, makers of such platforming classics as Shantae, Contra 4, and the recent a Boy and His Blob, will be handling the remake duties, with the excellent Jake Kaufman working on the soundtrack.
