“How The Saints Save Christmas” Now Available In Saints Row IV

How the Saints Saved Christmas

While there are plenty of Christmas movies, there aren’t a ton of Christmas videogames, even counting the ones that include a winter holiday level. (My personal pick is Freezezy Peak in Banjo-Kazooie.) Saints Row IV is doing its part to fix that with a new DLC mission pack called “How the Saints Save Christmas.” For $6.99 (or free if you purchased the season pass), you can help restore the Boss’s Christmas spirit to go deal with what appears to be an evil antlered Santa Claus. Yep, this is Saints Row. I fully support more games offering holiday levels in the vein of this DLC or Christmas Nights (on the Sega Saturn). Read more…

Now You Can Truly Be Nolan North – in Saints Row IV

Posted by Ben Huber on Jul 7, 2013 in Videogames

Nolan North really is in everything. The easier task would be to name the games he isn’t in. Like Metroid. Or uh… nope. I got nothing. Continuing his streak of world domination, Saints Row IV has unveiled their 7th, secret voice option for the character creator: Nolan North. As in, the voice option is Nolan North, as himself. If you make your character look like him, then you can literally play the game as him, the whole way through. I feel like this is just the right amount of silliness and self-referential humor – I know SRIV is really over the top already, but this is just the cherry on top. Read more…

Celebrate Independence Day With This Patriotic Trailer For Saints Row IV

Posted by Bob Muir on Jul 4, 2013 in Videogames

Saints Row IV

With echoes of Independence Day, Volition and new publisher Deep Silver put out this patriotic trailer for this fall’s Saints Row IV. It promotes American values such as liberty, freedom, and kicking alien butt. The leader of the Third Street Saints has now become president of the US and must defend the country from an alien invasion led by Emperor Zinyak. Plus, it’s another game where the president rides around in a giant mech. It doesn’t quite make up for Metal Wolf Chaos never being released on the original Xbox, but at least Saints Row IV has a dubstep gun, which counts for something. Read more…

Saints Row IV Looks Crazy – Again

I suppose “over-the-top” doesn’t even really describe Saints Row anymore. Now’s it’s just standard insanity. So very ordinary! But while I was a bit concerned about this next game being suped-up DLC, it seems they still have a handle on what makes Saints Row so fun. The trailer below also reveals some returning characters from previous games, as well as pixelated nudity – so get your super soaked and dive in. August is, thankfully, not that far away. Let’s hope the game lives up to the trailers. Read more…

Saints Row IV Announced

Are you ready to jump back into the world of Saints Row? After some uncertain times with THQ (goodnight, sweet prince), Volition has returned as “Deep Silver Volition” and have taken DLC planned for Saints Row 3 and turned it into a fully-fledged new game. The new title focuses on an alien threat, as the leader of the Saints (also the newly-elected President of the United States) gains superpowers and fights back. Yeah, looks like Saints Row to me! Hopefully this game will turn out alright, given the challenges those developers have had recently. Check out the trailer below! Read more…
