Magical Chopsticks Creamy Mami

Least we think that only fanboys grow up to yearn for their youth behold the collection of chopsticks aimed at fangurls who grew up in the 80s with the countless magical girl anime series of that era! Shown above are the chopsticks which are based on Creamy Mami, the Magic Angel (魔法の天使クリィミーマミ) which aired in 1983 — here’s an illustration from that show which features a ten year old girl who thanks to magic can transform into a sixteen year old girl:

Next up are the chopsticks for Magical Fairy Persia (魔法の妖精ペルシャ):

In this show from 1984 the lead girl named Pelsia wakes up in a land of fairies while traveling on an airplane headed to Japan:

And our last set of chopsticks are from Magical Star Magical Emi (魔法のスター マジカルエミ):

And following our magical girl theme Kazuki Mai, an elementary schoolgirl to turn into an eighteen year old girl:

As an old time anime fan what’s interesting about these shows to me is that they form the missing link between Minky Momo which came out in 1982 and Sailor Moon which came out ten years later in 1992 — and went onto to conquer America. What I also find interesting is that many of the magical girl shows from Japan did get exported to places like Europe, so they had quite a following. So the fangurls of today owe a great deal to good old Minky Momo:
