George R.R. Martin Extends Deal With HBO

George R.R. Martin

HBO is loving Game of Thrones as much as its fans, and with good reason: the show is a cross-over hit. Season three begins on March 31, and like many people, they’re eager for anything with George R.R. Martin’s name on it. So it’s no surprise that Martin has signed a two-year deal with HBO to continue as co-executive producer on Game of Thrones. But that’s not all! Martin will also be developing and producing new shows for HBO.

In the past, Martin has written for the Twilight Zone revival in the 80s, as well as the live-action Beauty and the Beast series in the 90s, so it makes sense that he’d be comfortable with doing more TV work. He does have other books besides his series of A Song of Fire and Ice novels, so it’s possible he may want to adapt one of them.

Of course, fans may decry this as yet another thing to delay the release of his next novel. But hey, no use worrying about it — just let it happen, and hopefully the author will finish his epic within his lifetime. It’s out of your hands!
