Gearbox’s Battleborn Mixes FPS With MOBA

Posted by Bob Muir on Jul 9, 2014 in Videogames

Gearbox isn’t just working on more Borderlands games. Their latest announcement is Battleborn, an FPS that mixes MOBA elements (think DOTA or League of Legends) into its co-op campaign. Battleborn has a science fantasy style with lots of colorful visuals, taking a page from Borderlands‘ avoidance of the usual FPS grittiness. The game is releasing for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, but the date is unknown; the only estimate we have is sometime before the end of Take Two’s next fiscal year, which ends March 31, 2016. Read more…

So There’s A New Borderlands Game

Posted by Ben Huber on Apr 12, 2014 in Videogames

Don’t get too excited though, next-gen-ers. This one is only on PC, 360, and PS3. Yup, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is a new game in the series, but it’s being done by 2K Australia while Gearbox works on other projects. In fact, I’m pretty Borderlands’d out, so I think I’ll just watch from the sidelines this time around. Still — if more guns, a moon base, and extra Claptrap sound appealing to you, check out the trailer and dev video below! Read more…

Personally, I’m not sure yet how everything played out, but it does make me hesitant to support them. Borderlands 2 is incredibly fun, and I want to keep playing more games like it, so hopefully Gearbox make things right. At SXSW Interactive, they debuted a short teaser trailer, showing off a very shadowy character – a new melee-focused Vault Hunter that you’ll be able to play as in the next DLC. There have been rumors of the level cap being raised as well, but don’t hold your breath – Randy Pitchford has repeatedly said it’d be very difficult to execute. For now, check out the teaser below!
