Gearbox’s Battleborn Mixes FPS With MOBA

Gearbox isn’t just working on more Borderlands games. Their latest announcement is Battleborn, an FPS that mixes MOBA elements (think DOTA or League of Legends) into its co-op campaign. Battleborn has a science fantasy style with lots of colorful visuals, taking a page from Borderlands‘ avoidance of the usual FPS grittiness. The game is releasing for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, but the date is unknown; the only estimate we have is sometime before the end of Take Two’s next fiscal year, which ends March 31, 2016. Read more…

‘Infinite Crisis’ MOBA Game Coming From Turbine

DC has a new MOBA game coming out. Does “MOBA” sound weird? It means “multiplayer online battle arena,” which is the relatively recent name given to what was previously called DotA-clones, after the original Defense of the Ancients scenario in WarCraft III. (I still think they both sound weird.) Regardless, this MOBA is based not just on DC’s stable of superheroes and supervillains, but the reality-altering Infinite Crisis storyline. Read more…
