Interstellar Returning To AMC IMAX This Weekend With More Footage

Posted by Bob Muir on Feb 18, 2015 in Cinema

Anyone can take a movie and toss it up on an IMAX screen. But to make a movie worth the surcharge, it usually requires that part of the movie was actually shot on IMAX cameras, something that director Christopher Nolan loves to do. While Interstellar might have gotten more mixed reviews, it can’t be denied that it’s even more visually stunning in IMAX. The movie has been out of theaters for a while, but you’ve got one more chance to see it in IMAX. AMC has announced that select IMAX theaters will show Interstellar — with twelve minutes of additional footage — this Saturday, February 21, at 3PM. You’ll have to buy the tickets at the box office, since it’s not available online, but as a trade-off, you’ll get two tickets for the price of one. The first 300 people will get a set of Interstellar prints. Check the list below and plan accordingly. Read more…

Watch Game of Thrones In Imax And See The Season 5 Trailer

Posted by Ben Huber on Jan 17, 2015 in Television

Game of Thrones in coming to the big screen… the biggest screen, actually. Starting January 29th, for one week Imax theaters will have several Game of Thrones showings, which will be episodes 9 and 10 of season 4, followed by a new trailer for season 5. These two episodes (“The Watchers on the Wall” and “The Children”) are some of the biggest showpieces for Game of Thrones, and will probably be pretty neat to see on the big screen. Obviously this is really meant for the hardcore fans, and as such they’ll also be giving out two posters at the screenings: one (“The Watchers on the Wall”) at all AMC theaters, and another (“The Children”)¬†at all other theaters. I’ve included the posters below, but be warned: they feature major spoilers! Tickets are on sale now here. Read more…

No word on if the 17 minutes is from the beginning, a compilation, or something else. Star Trek XI in IMAX

I can’t guarantee that this film is going to be any good, but one thing is for certain: J.J. Abrams is a marketing genius! And being a Star Trek fanboy that’s a good thing because one does worry how long you can make the series last. There was a time a few months ago where I would bemoan the fact that Lucas was so much better at pushing Star Wars than Paramount was with Star Trek, but with J.J. on the case I no longer have to worry about that: Read more…
