The Lord of the Crumbs

I said my peace about how awesome Cookie Monster skits are, even as an adult, a few weeks ago with this Catching Fire parody. Now that we’re on the same page, here’s Cookie Monster as “Gobble” in The Lord of the Crumbs. While I might wonder why they don’t feel like parodying The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, it doesn’t really matter. Watch as Cookie Monster argues with himself, tries to get past a wizard, and comments on the special effects. Part of me is looking forward to having kids down the road just to watch these sort of things with them. Read more…

Cookie Monster Parodies Catching Fire as Cookieness Evereat

Oscar the Grouch

The talented puppeteer Caroll Spinney turns 78 years old today! Several generations know Spinney as the man behind Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch thanks to his collaboration with the talented Jim Henson. Spinney first met Henson in 1960, but sadly Spinney didn’t get Henson’s hint that he’d like to hire him. Then in 1969 the two bumped into each other at a convention and then went on to make history with Sesame Street. Read more…

Muppets and Firefly: Shiny!

Firefrog

Nerds love the Muppets, nerds love Firefly; it was only a matter of time before someone took those two great tastes and made them taste great together. Artist James Hance is creating an entire series of Muppet-fied Firefly images (with some Fraggles to round out the cast) on his website, with proceeds from his upcoming prints to be donated to the Can’t Stop the Serenity charity.  Read more…
