Titanfall Adding Co-op Horde Mode And More

Posted by Ben Huber on Oct 24, 2014 in Videogames

titanfall

Titanfall is a game that I found very fun, but also fairly slim on content. Developer Respawn has added a lot since release, and they just announced a new update with several new features. The leading item is a new game mode called Frontier Defense. It’s a four-player co-op mode in which you defend towers from waves of AI enemies. As you might expect from a tower defense mode, you can set up titans, turrets, and more to defend the area. Along with this update, they’ll also be including a “floor is lava” game mode (which sounds amazing), and Marked for Death Pro. You can download the update now! Check out their Twitch stream featuring video of the new modes here! Read more…

Threezero’s Insane Titanfall Model Available Now To Pre-Order

Posted by Ben Huber on Jun 16, 2014 in Hobbies and Collections

titanfall

Threezero, who has frequently collaborated with Ashley Wood under the company ThreeA, has been doing some amazing work. Their figures have been fantastically done and have been both original and based off of existing popular culture. Threezero’s latest work? An Atlas titan from Titanfall. It stands 20 inches tall with its base (and 18″ without), has over 100 articulation points, light-up cockpit and eyes, an openable front hatch, and a 6 inch fully poseable pilot to fit inside. That’s right, you get a figure to go inside your other bigger figure. Pre-orders are open now on Threezero’s shop, and it’ll run you $430, not including shipping. So, uh, it’s pricey, but I think if there’s any Titanfall model to own, it’s this one. Check out some videos of it below. Read more…

Obama (Not Really) Plays Some Titanfall

Posted by Bob Muir on Mar 25, 2014 in Videogames

Titanfall

Microsoft often sets up Xbox Live events where gamers can play with various celebrities. With that context in place, it’s easy to see how impressionable people might think an Obama impersonator is actually the real deal, even if there’s no way the president would take the time to play himself. That’s what happens in this collection of videos: a damn good Obama impersonator plays Titanfall in character, promoting the Affordable Care Act and cracking political jokes. His voice isn’t a perfect match, but he has Obama’s inflections down, so I’d imagine this sounded pretty convincing when compressed over an Xbox headset. So does this mean Obama has reversed his position on gun control? Read more…

Don’t Get Crushed By This Life-Size Titan!

Posted by Ben Huber on Mar 16, 2014 in Videogames

titan1

If you’ve ever wanted your own titan from Titanfall, this is as probably as close as you’re going to get! To promote the release of the game, CJ Berg and Daniel’s Wood Land were commissioned to put together a life-size titan. It’s currently making its way across the UK, at various launch events for photo opportunities. SlashGear spoke with the creators about how they made the beast (lots of foam!) and their process of working with Respawn, too. Of course, the article is lavished with a multitude of awesome pictures. I’ve included a few below, but check out the full thing here! Of course, all it does is just make us want a real one! Titanfall Beta Opens Up to Everyone

Posted by Ben Huber on Feb 17, 2014 in Videogames

titanfall

If you’re an early adopter of the Xbox One, it’s about to pay off: the beta of Titanfall has opened up to all users. You can hop into the Xbox Live store and download it now and start falling… for Titans… or something like that. Reportedly, the PC version of the beta will open up very soon as well, although it hasn’t yet at time of this writing (but check out the front page of Origin to see it when it does!). I’ve been playing the PC beta for a day or so now, and it’s been a ton of fun, and has definitely convinced me to pick up the game when it comes out. When you first ride a Titan and take it down, you’ll be hooked too. Read more…

Latest Titanfall Trailer Shows Off the Stryder

Posted by Ben Huber on Dec 28, 2013 in Videogames

stryder

I love goofy in-universe ads for fictional products, so seeing this new trailer for Titanfall presented as an ad by Hammond Robotics is pretty cool. It’s got a 23% lighter frame! Obviously! I’m pretty interested in Titanfall, not because it’s another multiplayer FPS, but because it introduces a lot of verticality into the game. Most of my favorite multiplayer FPS games (or at least the ones I keep coming back to) have an emphasis on being mobile and getting vertical space between you and your opponent. Titanfall isn’t far away now: it’ll arrive March 11th. Read more…

Titanfall Dated, Collector’s Edition Announced

Posted by Bob Muir on Oct 23, 2013 in Videogames

Titanfall Collector's Edition

Respawn Entertainment’s highly-anticipated next-gen shooter Titanfall has finally been dated. What seemed like a possible launch title for Xbox One slipped back and is now confirmed to be released on March 11, 2014 in North America, with a March 13, 2014 release date in Europe. The game is not only coming out on Xbox One, but also PC and Xbox 360, though I think the 360 version won’t be purchased as much. But are you somehow going to have some spare money after the new console launches this fall? Then Respawn is offering you an expensive Titanfall collector’s edition. Read more…

Titanfall Gameplay from Gamescom Looks Intense

Posted by Ben Huber on Aug 25, 2013 in Videogames

titanfall

Titanfall has consistently been one of the best-showing games at the past few press conferences. It’s fast-paced, incredibly exciting to watch, and also very vertical. I love shooters that require you to look up and engage on multiple levels, dealing with enemies above and below. Most of all, I love mechs and giant robots. Titanfall looks to combine that with on-foot combat that’s super versatile (double-jumps and wall-running!), while not making either side too overpowered. This new trailer from Gamescom runs through a multiplayer level with plenty going on, and makes me very interested for the game’s release. Check it out below. Read more…
