This Cine-Mask is More Than Meets the Eye

Transformers Cine-mask

Looks awesome, doesn’t it? It’s not exactly everyday wear, but Hasbro’s Dark of the Moon Robo Power Cine-Mask — yeah, the name is a bit of a mouthful — is the coolest pair of 3d theater glasses we’ve seen yet. The mask actually contains the same RealD technology you’d find at theaters nationwide, so it won’t work with your home theater system, or that fancy new 3D LED  you’ve been saving up for, but on the other hand, it’ll only set you back $10. Another catch is that the mask is actually designed for children ages 6 and up, so I’m not exactly sure it’ll fit just anyone. If you’re curious there’s a matching Bumblebee mask similar to the Optimus Prime one pictured here. Finally, Hasbro has also decided to throw in a set of standard red/blue stereoscopic glasses in case you need them for whatever reason. For $10, it’s a neat novelty at the least. Check Hasbro’s official website for more info.

Me and My First Michael Bay Movie: Transformers 3

110717 - transformers

On the night that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 opened, several cohorts and I picked our way through the be-spectacled and be-robed fans lining up for back-to-back showings of Part 1 and 2 and made our way into another theater in the back of the megaplex. We settled in, watched some previews, and then sat through a film that was actively painful to watch.

Its name…was Transformers 3. Read more…

Leonard Nimoy Returns to Cybertron

Leonard Nimoy

Okay, so Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen wasn’t very good. Even Michael Bay, the film’s own director, thinks so. He’s promised that the third film in the Transformers series, The Dark of the Moon, will be heaps better, and he appears to be following through on that promise by adding the one thing sure to draw nerds to a film: the venerable Leonard Nimoy. Nimoy will be lending his voice to the pre-Optimus leader of the Autobots, Sentinel Prime, whose remains are discovered on the moon in the film. This isn’t Nimoy’s first foray into the Transformers universe, either; diligent fans will recall that he was the voice of Galvatron in the Transformers movie of old. Read more…

Transformers: Dark of the Moon trailer, starring … Neil Armstrong?!

Posted by Michael Sacco on Dec 10, 2010 in Cinema

Transformers: Dark of the Moon

Yeah, so, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was missing something. A lot of somethings. And Michael Bay, director of the Transformers live-action films thus far, has listened to your complaints. If you thought the answer to “Just what was the Transformers franchise missing?” was “Apollo 11 astronaut and first man on the moon Neil Armstrong,” then you’re going to love the teaser trailer for 2011’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Okay, so it’s just an actor playing him, but still! Admittedly, the trailer’s gorgeous, and Bay says that the CGI in it is only 75-80% done, so it’ll look even better when it’s complete. Bay even reassures fans that this entry into the series will ditch the “goofy comedy” (his words) of Revenge. Hopefully the racial stereotypes, too. Now to figure out who that Transformer rocking the Fu Manchu mustache is… Read more…
