One of the most popular characters from Mass Effect is being immortalized by Gaming Heads as an impressive new statue. This figurine of Garrus Vakarian from Mass Effect is 21 inches tall, which makes him — well, it makes him massive. He also comes with two different guns (the Incisor Sniper Rifle and the Phaeston). Limited to 500 copies worldwide, you’ll probably want to hurry if you want one: pre-orders are open now on Gaming Heads’ website. Garrus runs $349.99 and will come numbered and with a certificate of authenticity. Pretty cool! Oh, and yes, there are payment plans. More images below! Read more…

Kotobukiya’s New 52 Justice League Batman Figure Stands into Action

Posted by Ben Huber on Nov 19, 2012 in Comic Books, Hobbies and Collections

batman1

It just didn’t feel right to say “leap into action,” since he’s just standing there, you know? Kotobukiya is continuing their solid New 52 Justice League lineup, and the latest addition is Batman! I must say, while his pose is kind of boring, I actually like the sculpt of Batman himself. He’s a little leaner than the usual Batman figures, making him look more like an agile ninja than a hulking hero in the night. He is, just like the others, very shiny. Whether you like that aspect falls into personal preference, but I’d say he looks good paired up with the rest of the crew. If you’re looking to pick Batman up, pre-order him at AmiAmi, Hobby Search, or HLJ. Read more…

Dead Space’s Isaac Clarke Now Ready to Guard Your Desk

Posted by Ben Huber on Jan 15, 2012 in Hobbies and Collections, Videogames

Try stealing my stapler NOW.

I’ve always loved the design of Isaac Clarke’s suit from Dead Space. It has a strong, iconic look to it that you don’t see very often. Maybe it’s just because he slightly resembles a cranky old grandpa of the Daft Punk guys… In any case, Sideshow Collectibles agrees on the awesomeness of Isaac Clark and is releasing a 16″ high statue of him, ready to take on whatever alien menace he might encounter next. Funko’s Funky Star Wars Bobble Heads

Posted by Tim Sheehy on Feb 9, 2011 in Hobbies and Collections, Star Wars

Funko Vader Pop! Bobble Head

I’m not big on collecting bobble heads, but these are really adorable. Funko’s releasing a line of Star Wars-themed bobble heads with our favorite characters from a galaxy far far away. In addition to Lord Vader, pictured above, the series will also feature Leia, Han Solo, Chewie, Yoda, Greedo and an Imperial trooper. Interestingly enough, I don’t believe they have plans for either a Luke or Obi-wan bobble head. Personally, I’m not too sad about that. If I’m going to buy one, it may as well be the badest sith in the galaxy, right?

The Lupin III Lottery: Yet Another Reason to Move to Japan

Posted by Michael Pinto on Jan 24, 2011 in Animation, Hobbies and Collections

Lupin III figurines

As an old school anime fanboy I found myself drooling over this collection of Lupin III figurines from Japan. Of course the sad catch is that this line is a limited edition series, and in order to get them you have to be part of some lottery system — and as such are forced to buy in Japan. I realize that I’m just looking at the photos from Banpresto but the wonderful level of detail and craftsmanship is quite eye pleasing: Read more…

Urusei Yatsura’s Lum Strikes a Pose

Posted by Michael Pinto on Jun 7, 2010 in Animation, Hobbies and Collections

Bome Urusei Yatsura Lum figurine

I don’t want to brag but back in the day before all the new kids (who are no longer kids) discovered Ranma ½ I already knew who Rumiko Takahashi was because I had already fallen in love with Urusei Yatsura — which by the way I always felt was a much more humorous series. So when I set my eyes on this amazing sculpture of Lum needless to say I was quite smitten. I’m also impressed with the fact that this model comes in one version with green hair and another with magenta hair. This collectable figurine of Lum is designed by the ever so talented Bome who is a Japanese sculptor whose primary focus is the ladies of anime. Read more…

Sometimes the Worst Characters Make the Best Figurines

Posted by Michael Pinto on Apr 1, 2010 in Comic Books, Hobbies and Collections

Limited Edition Murata Susumu Five figurine from the Worst manga by Hiroshi Takahashi

The cover of the manga WorstSo many times fans only think of manga as being focused on either romance or supernatural martial arts, but that’s not always the case: For example the manga series Worst (ワースト) by Hiroshi Takahashi shows the world of Japanese biker gangs — a genre which is quite under appreciated abroad. This limited edition figurine does a amazing job of capturing all of nice little details of Japanese biker culture which is portrayed in the manga series. Worst is very popular in Japan, in fact you can a wide range of merchandise based on the manga from gang rings to sun glasses. Read more…

A Heavenly Shrine Priestess Figurine from Inuyasha

Posted by Michael Pinto on Mar 23, 2010 in Animation, Hobbies and Collections

Inuyasha Kikyo Figurine

Kikyo was cuter. Much cuter! It’s hard for me to believe it but to many anime fans Inuyasha is thought of as old school anime at this point — the show went on the air almost ten years ago in October of 2000. So for me it was a pleasant surprise to see this wonderful figurine of Kikyo which is produced by the BOME modeling house. From what I can gather from my source article is that this figurine first came out in 2009 as a limited edition but will be re-issued in June. Read more…
