The Muppets Take On the Superheroes

Posted by Gia Manry on Jul 25, 2011 in Cinema, Comic Books

The first trailer for Jim Hensons’ Muppets return ot the big screen— which starts out looking like a romantic comedy before revealing the inclusion of the cloth characters — was pretty cute. But it doesn’t compare in the least to the newest trailer, in which the Muppets take on superheroes in a big way…especially Green Lantern (and a little bit of Batman, if you squint).

But that’s just the above trailer. Hit the jump to see who the Muppets will challenge next…in poster form! Read more…

The Green Lantern Corps is an Alien Nation

Green Lantern Corps

We’ve known that the upcoming Green Lantern movie is going full-blown crazy in its display of alien Lanterns, as evidenced by its recent WonderCon footage, but the latest poster really exhibits the almost Lucasian variety of alien life. Just offhand, you’ve got yourself a Boodikka, Stel, Abin Sur, Kilowog, Tomar Re, Sinestro, and that looks like R’amey Holl with the butterfly wings. And that isn’t even all of them in this poster! Being a Green Lantern must be like living in the Mos Eisley Cantina every day, you know? Let’s hope all these neat races get their due in the film, which comes out in about a month and a half. Oa My! Green Lantern Footage from WonderCon!

Posted by Michael Sacco on Apr 3, 2011 in Cinema, Comic Books

Warner Bros. has admitted that the original Green Lantern trailer was underwhelming at best, so they’ve vowed to provide the public with only the coolest material from the movie from here on in. And, I’ve got to say, based on the above footage shown at WonderCon, there might be hope for this movie yet. Check out all those awesome alien lanterns! And Mark Strong is a pretty great live-action Sinestro if ever I’ve seen one (I haven’t, mind you). Guess we’ll all know for sure in a few months! Read more…

It’s a Bright Night for the First Green Lantern Footage

Posted by Michael Sacco on Nov 13, 2010 in Cinema, Comic Books

Ryan Reynolds’ upcoming superhero flick (well, one of several, anyway), Green Lantern, just had its first preview footage hit the net, courtesy of Entertainment Tonight. In terms of “feel,” it resembles Iron Man, with lighthearted humor on top of action scenes. The footage is a little rough and pixelated (you’ll recall that the first Iron Man clip looked pretty much the same way, and that film turned out okay), but you can still get a good look Hal’s suit with its odd musculature. And devoted fans will immediately recognize Kilowog, Hal’s Green Lantern Corps trainer.

ET has even more footage from the film ready to go for Tuesday’s episode, so keep an eye out after the weekend!

Superboy #36

Happy Thanksgiving from Fanboy.com! To celebrate we’ve put together a gallery of turkey themed comic books for your entertainment. The one thing you’ll notice is that most of the holiday humor is aimed at younger comic book readers — an audience that both Marvel and DC are rediscovering once again.
