Here’s a Cyberpunk GameBoy Mask

Posted by Ben Huber on Jun 2, 2013 in Design, Videogames

Watch out Daft Punk, your rusty, built-from-scrap arch-nemesis is here, and he’s made from GameBoy parts. THUNDERBOX had a cool art show going on and one of the standout pieces was a life-size and wearable mask made from a GameBoy and other electronics. Along with that there was also a GameBoy-inspired jacket, in which you are the cartridge. The whole combination of fashion and gaming typically isn’t too “savvy,” but THUNDERBOX has some really fantastic and creative stuff, so take a look at more images below of the show, and then visit their site to get some THUNDERBOX in your life. Solid Gray Backpack Makes You Look Like You’re From the Future

Posted by Ben Huber on Nov 19, 2012 in Design

Want to look like you just jumped out of 2020? Have a bunch of money to spare? Need something to carry all of your stuff? Then I have found the perfect backpack for you: Solid Gray. It’s a plastic shell backpack, made very thin but highly durable. It’s geometric design and material is supposed to make it stronger and last longer. Plus, that hard shell is great for protecting whatever you keep inside (yes, there is interior padding). While it all looks very cool, the downside is you’ll need to be ready to drop about €139.00 on this bad boy. So, how badly do you want to look like a time-traveller? Read more…

Vans Gives Your iPhone a Grip

Posted by Tim Sheehy on Jul 31, 2012 in Tech

I know what you’re thinking, Vans made an iPhone case? I realize its 2012, and while I don’t personally endorse their line of skater-friendly kicks, it’s nice to see the brand is still branching out. Thanks to the good Doctor, I’m much more of a Converse man these days, but that doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate a clever idea when I see one. So, what makes their case so special? Read more…

Threadless Tees on the Cheap

Posted by Tim Sheehy on Mar 20, 2012 in Design, Fandom

Threadless T-shirts

I have more t-shirts than any other type of clothing, and though I ultimately blame myself for being terrible with money, the internet isn’t helping matters. Sites like Threadless, TeeFury, Red Bubble, and so many more keep letting artists design these amazing graphic tees, and my bank account takes hit after hit. To make matters worse, Threadless is currently in the midst of a 48-hour sale, with almost every shirt marked down to $9.99 — they usually retail for twice that. Read more…

Uniqlo x Metal Gear 25th Anniversary

Metal Gear 25th Anniversary Uniqlo Shirts 1

If I’m going to buy overpriced Japanese t-shirts, there’s only one retailer I really trust — Uniqlo. Stylish, well-crafted, and comfortable to wear, their t-shirts will often catch your eye with with quirky prints or bright colors. In Japan, the retailer teamed up with Konami to release a line of Metal Gear-themed shirts celebrating the series’ 25th anniversary. I’d probably kill for a few of these designs, but seeing as their shirts usually retail for around $45 a piece at conventions, I’m not sure if I have the cash to spare. The shirts will be available this April, but I have no idea if you’ll be able to find them in any of the three Manhattan locations located in the US. You might have better luck at major anime conventions later this summer — otherwise, a trip to Japan might be your best bet. Check out more photos after the break. Read more…

These Sneakers Let You Stomp Like a Wompa

Posted by Tim Sheehy on Sep 26, 2011 in Fandom, Star Wars

Adidas Wampa Sneakers

I didn’t really realize they were still running the Adidas x Starwars campaign from the other year, but it’s cool that it’s still happening. For example, check out these sweet wampa-inspired kicks, complete with faux wampa fur. It’s actually horse hair, but I don’t think anyone would notice. Besides, convincing someone you actually killed a wampa shouldn’t be too hard. Luke did it and he probably had some form of frostbite by that point. Of course, you’ll have to actually order a pair first. Tthey’re pretty expensive at $150 a pair, and I’m sure keeping them clean is going to be a pain, but chances are that you’ll be the only person you know who owns them. There’s always that, right? I just hope that at some point, they make a pair in wookie-brown. Read more…

Keep Geek Chic With This Nifty Space Invaders Hoodie

Posted by Tim Sheehy on Mar 24, 2011 in Videogames

 Space Invaders Hoodie

ThinkGeek recently updated their stock with this awesome Space Invaders hoodie. Not only does it speak to my inner-gamer, but it’s actually fashionable. I love a good argyle — top that off with some 8-bit prints and I’m sold. With those April showers less than a month away, picking one of these up might not be such a bad idea. Normally they retail for roughly $60, but ThinkGeek actually has them on sale for 50% off list price for a limited time. That means only $30 before shipping. Head over and order yours today.

23rd Century Bathwear

Posted by Tim Sheehy on Mar 8, 2011 in Star Trek

Kirk Bathrobe

I never thought I’d need a Starfleet-issued bathrobe — that is, until I saw one. Fashioned after their Star Trek original series counterparts, these terrycloth robes come designed with fanboys in mind. For instance, “Command Gold” comes em captain’s rank properly embroidered on the sleeves, along with a command insignia on the left breast. “Sciences Blue” features a commander rank and sciences insignia. For now, those are the only colors available. If you’d rather hold out in hopes of picking up Scotty’s red, those should be available by April. The robes cost a hefty $49.99 via ThinkGeek, but something tells me it’s worth it.

Even Starfighters Have Rear Windows

Posted by Tim Sheehy on Mar 3, 2011 in Design, Star Wars

Star Wars Family

I’m not sure why it bothers me so much to see those vans with those family decals stuck on their rear-view windows. Something about having to advertise the fact that your family shares a mini-van just seems a little much. If, on the other hand, your family owns the Millennium Falcon, I think I’d be okay with it. That’s why I love this design by artist Steve Thomas. I don’t think you’ll be able to find the sticker, but you can head over to TeeFury and pick up this nifty design on a custom tee of your own. Like every other design that gets featured on the site, it’ll only be available for 24 hours, or until it sells out — whichever comes first.   Read more…

Biker Gloves for Eva Pilots

Evangelion NERV Biker Gloves 2

When it comes to otaku clothing, I’ve always found finding fashionable items to be a challenge. Sure there’s some gems out there, but generally speaking, it’s kind of hard to look sharp when you’re sporting a lounge shirt with your favorite Dragon Ball character printed all over it. These gloves, on the other hand, are hardly such an eyesore. Not only do they sport a slick NERV logo, they’re also utilitarian, making them perfect for your Vespa, motorcycle, or piloting your very own Evangelion unit. J-List has them for $60 before shipping but you can probably snag them cheaper elsewhere. Read more…

Want to Look Like You Belong in a Japanese Drama? You’ll Need This

Posted by Tim Sheehy on Aug 26, 2010 in Hobbies and Collections

Recognize this? Sure you do, it’s a briefcase book bag — they’re just in every anime or J-drama I’ve ever seen. While some of you might be a little old to cosplay a Japanese high-schooler, those of you who want to try are going to need need one of these. Made by Matsukameya, a Japanese outlet that specializes in school uniforms, the quality is top notch, and definitely worth the hefty $165 price tag. This model comes complete with a metal lock and key, accordion pocket for large books or laptops, and several other pockets and compartments for documents and more. They’re currently in stock over at J-List, but be prepared to shell out some extra cash for EMS shipping, since they’ll only offer that.

Adidas Helps You Share Your Inner Wookie

Posted by Tim Sheehy on Aug 11, 2010 in Star Wars

Adidas Star Wars Wookiee Coat

Plan on visiting Hoth anytime soon? Can’t afford a Taun Taun? Don’t worry, Adidas has you covered. The latest addition to their Star Wars inspired Adidas Originals line happens to be a Wookie inspired jacket. I’m fairly certain that no Wookies were harmed in order to make these, but they definitely look warm enough. I just wonder if it actually comes with Chewie’s signature bandolier, as pictured above. Sure, it seemingly served no purpose, but you have to store your thermal detonators somewhere, right?  The jacket will be available later this year, and while there’s no current price listed, expect to pay handsomely.

Adidas Drops Their Latest Kicks in Carbonite

Posted by Tim Sheehy on Jul 13, 2010 in Star Wars

adidas star wars han solo sneakers

The Han Solo SL72 sneakers are the latest addition to the Adidas x Star Wars footwear line that was announced last year. The silver scheme, and tongue design is inspired by Han’s carbonite coffin from Empire Strikes Back, but the shoes also feature small details from his costume, including his signature belt and the red trim from his pants. Pretty slick if you ask me.  No word on how much they cost, but they’ll be available later this fall. Until then, you’ll have to make due with Hoth-inspired Rebel duds, and a pair of sneakers fit for the Dark Lord himself, which currently retail for $167 and $133, respectively. Check the Adidas online store for more details. Read more…

Show Some Support For Your Favorite Android Lovechild

Posted by Tim Sheehy on Jul 6, 2010 in Star Wars

Tee Fury's Star Wars Lovechild T-Shirt

You know, it seemed inevitable. C-3PO and R2D2 always seemed so inseparable, so it would stand to reason that they may or may not have given birth to an illegitimate lovechild-droid. At least, web dev and caricature artist Jon Plante, seemed to think so — I just never imagined it’d be so hilarious or horrifying . That said, it sure makes for an awesome t-shirt. The shirt is currently available at for only $9 plus shipping, but if you want one, you’ll need to hustle. Due to the format of the site, the shirt will only be available for the next 24 hours and once they sell out, they’re gone forever. If you’re worried about the quality of the shirts, I can actually vouch for them as I order from the site quite often. For more of his work, you can also check out Jon’s infrequently updated web comic Celebrity Skinned. Darth Vader Shows Off Some Imperial Designer Fashion

Posted by Tim Sheehy on Jun 23, 2010 in Fandom, Star Wars

John Woo's Star Wars Designer Fashion Illustrations

I wasn’t sure what I should title this post, but I was toying with the idea of calling it Abercrombie and Sith. I’m sure some of you are staring at these fantastic water-colored illustrations and wondering what exactly you’re staring at. Believe me when I say that I’m still kind of wondering about it myself. The various illustrations feature a variety of masked villains from the Star Wars Universe — and Jar Jar, regrettably — posing in designer clothing from labels like Viktor & Rolf, A.P.C., Band of Outsiders, Thom Browne. New York and more. The artist responsible, John Woo, not to be confused with the film maker, is actually quite a talented guy. If you want to check out more of his work — and trust me, you do — visit his website. Read more…

Want to Be the Next Pirate King? You’ll Need a Pair of These First

Posted by Tim Sheehy on Jun 19, 2010 in Animation, Fandom

One Piece Jeans 1

It’s so rare for me to come across wearable Otaku-oriented clothing. I use the term wearable in that I’ve seen more than my fair share of lounge shirts plastered with gaudy designs — be it the choice of the color or the anime inspired prints themselves. These jeans, however, are hardly an eye-sore. With the words of Monkey D. Luffy gracing your rear-end, you too can aspire to rule the high seas and collect the ultimate treasure — that is, if you can manage to fit in them. Read more…

Custom Iron Man Shoes That Only Tony Stark Could Afford

Posted by Tim Sheehy on Jun 3, 2010 in Comic Books, Fandom

Diversitile Iron Man Custom Shoes

Well, Tony Stark and anyone else who happens to have at least $400 to spend on designer shoes. That’s right, these incredible custom sneakers are currently being auctioned on ebay by Diversitile, a company that just so happens to specialize in, you guessed it, designer footware. The shoes apparently come with built-in arc reactor lights that mimic the designs of the Iron Man and War Machine armor featured in Iron Man 2. Don’t get me wrong, this shoes look absolutely stunning but considering the price, I think I probably buy a pair of Bapes, and have some cash left over and at least I know those would be comfortable.  If you’re interested, check out the ebay listings here, or head over to their official blog for more information. Show Off Your Gamer Roots With This Classy Space Invaders Tie

Posted by Tim Sheehy on May 6, 2010 in Videogames

Space Invaders tie 1

I can’t even begin to tell you how hard it is to find decent formal wear that really speaks to my inner geek, but occasionally I luck out — such was the case with this fantastic Space Invaders inspired neck tie by Since 1337.  The aliens are available in both green and blue, while both look sharp, the green might come off a bit loud. Unlike the game, it’ll probably cost you more than a few quarters at $38 plus tax and shipping, but they’re probably worth it. After all, they’re designer ties. For more info, check out the Since 1337 online storeRead more…
